The ANGs made a triumphant return to the historic Didsbury Golf Course, a venerable gem established in 1891 that gracefully winds along the picturesque banks of the River Mersey.
On a day blessed with glorious sunshine, twelve spirited players teed off for the prestigious Alf Challenge, generously sponsored by David McLachlan.
In a moment that will be remembered for years to come, Steve Jones, often the subject of good-natured ribbing for his elusive victories, finally rose to the occasion. With an astonishing 44 points, Steve clinched a long-awaited and well-deserved win. The applause was louder, the smiles broader, and the congratulations more heartfelt than ever before. Steve, this victory is a testament to your persistence and passion – well done!
The course seemed to favor Len Potts as well, who put up a stellar performance to secure the runner-up trophy with an impressive 38 points.
Meanwhile, in a surprising twist of fate, Joe Wilcox, who stood proudly on the winner’s podium at the Marple event, found himself bringing up the rear this time around. Collecting ‘The Visor’ with a good-natured grin, Joe took the teasing in stride. From first to last, the golfing gods certainly have a sense of humor! Better luck next time, Joe – we all know you’ll bounce back!
Congratulations to all participants for a fantastic day of golf, and once again, a special shout-out to Steve Jones for his remarkable victory!
